Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler and Ralph Lauren closed out the week as fashionistas climbed over snow banks and girded themselves with their purses against brutal wind.
During the New York Fashion Week designers embraced the
chill with some amazing looks to warm up our hearts (and our wardrobes!) for
the next autumn / winter season. We saw fur in almost every single show, but in
a nice palette with options to keep your spirit up. Head to toe sweater
dressing trend is a must: you definitely need to start collecting heavy and
cozy knits now. Another trend that has
been emerging for next fall has to be the two tone jackets, While the sleeves
remain traditionally suede on the outside, the body of the jacket has been turned
inside out. Some key items you would like to consider would be corduroy belted
macs in butterscotch, long blazers in houndstooth, nightgown dresses with a
simple ruffle trailing their front and A-line skirts teamed with woolly
jumpers. These were easy and effortless ingredients for a simple but stylish
winter wardrobe.
Also a major
New York Fashion Week color moment occurred when we realized that Orange is the
new Black! As the fiery hue has been spotted all over the ready-to-wear shows,
making its way from the season's It lip to its
clothes, bags, and shoes. However, we also spotted a parade of short black
numbers worn with pointed kitten heels and leather biker or bomber jackets, so
that his usual sense of glamour was reworked with a more realistic and
pragmatic edge.
Don’t forget
that we have been showing you some of the most relevant and wearable trends for
this spring / summer season to keep you updated. For example, the cotton
button-down in a ‘borrowed from your boyfriend’ statement, especially those
with contrast collar in order to reinvent this basic item. As well as
embellished pieces, pretty pastel colors, sassy fringes and wide leg pants that
are very functional.
