Oscar Trends

Oscar night is well known for having some of the most show-stopping gowns of the year on the red carpet. This year was no exception as Hollywood’s A-list stars brought their wardrobe A-games to the table! Here are some the night’s hottest trends:

Plunging neckline: Kate Hudson, Lupita Nyong’o and Julia Roberts all selected deep v-necklines to show off their sexy style. When wearing a dress with a plunging neckline, make sure you have proper undergarments to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions!

Dark Blue: Sandra Bullock and Amy Adams both chose dark blue hues for their red carpet gowns- a classic color perfect for a formal night event. Choose dark blue over your typical little black dress next time you’re invited to a cocktail party.

Peplum: Jennifer Lawrence and Julia Roberts both chose to keep the peplum trend going! And for good reason-peplums are figure flattering, chic, and easy to wear. Choose a peplum top and pair it with jeans for a casual look to replicate this fabulous trend.

Nude/Embellished: Jessica Biel, Cate Blanchet, and Giuliana Rancic all wore nude, embellished dresses for a great look. When wearing nude, make sure it’s two or three shades darker than your skin tone. You don’t want to wear a gown with the same shade as your own skin tone, but you also don’t want to wear a flesh color that is too much darker than your own. Shoot for something in-between!

Metallic Detail: Angelina Jolie, Kristen Bell, and Kristin Chenoweth all chose dresses with metallic detail. Metallic is an easy way to dress up any outfit, whether you use it as an accessory, or a focal point. Have fun and experiment with this sparkly trend!

Black: Anna Kendrick, Emma Watson, and Charlize Theron all went with classic black. Since black is basic, try experimenting with interesting silhouettes, cutouts, and necklines, as these leading ladies all demonstrated.
