How to add edginess to your business clothes

Are you trying to add some edginess to your everyday business clothes? I have great news: the crisp, menswear-inspired dress shirt that was once a popular garment for girls got a makeover this season with inventively cool, contrasting color and/or textured collars and cuffs. I’d say that adding simple details to a dress shirt can easily make it more unique and eye catching. Making a slight variation in a striped shirt will differentiate you from the crowd. This elevated wardrobe essential is perfect for sneakily kicking up your work outfit (just make sure to button up all the way!) and can be seen literally anywhere; no matter if you are a young lady in your 20’s or a classy strong woman in your 40’s this trend will suit you perfectly.

From office appropriate with a pencil skirt or wide legged pants to tied up with a maxi or worn with a bit of menswear flair, the possibilities are endless since they can be mixed and matched with basically anything! There are two ways to using contrast fabric concepts: full and inner, full being the entire cuff and collar are made of another fabric is a very visible contrast. The subtle approach is to have the inside of the collar lined with another fabric that invites closer attention. The most popular color to achieve this contrast is white fabric on collar and cuffs on a blue dress shirts stripes permitting. For best results, look for a tailored blazer in a neutral color, like black, gray, tan, brown, or navy. You can also accessorize with a chunky chain necklace under the contrast collar and minimal earrings to add some spark and cunningly give your office attire a little twist.
