Back in the business-casual days, I found myself picking up trendy items
that don’t look like the typical professional attire at all! However, I’ve
realized that an important amount of women have no clue about what to wear in a
professional environment, becoming the everyday process of dressing up into an
odyssey, but it doesn’t have to be this way. It’s a fact that good appearance
is one of the key factors of success, so we need to get the best out of this
ultra conservative world.
Luckily, you can build certain level of style by working in fashionable
elements through subtle accessories and chic silhouettes. The well-known ‘Power
Suit’ is basically similar to what men are expected to wear, but in this case
it doesn’t have to be meanly and unflattering: you can never go wrong with a
slim cut pantsuit, a structured jacket or a well-tailored blazer. At the same
time, in the workplace there are some rules we need to keep in mind:
1.
Wear
neutral colors (cream, navy, charcoal or black); avoid oversized accessories
(keep it simple and chic).
2.
Tailored
doesn’t mean tight (be careful!) try maybe cropped trousers with a sharp blazer.
3.
About the
skirt and dresses the length is critical, they should hit at the knee or
below.
4.
Although
we love high heels, it’s important to wear shoes that you can walk comfortably
in any color that compliments your outfit.
We can also update any classic look by using these useful tips: you can
scrunch up your blazer’s sleeves for a cooler look. Instead of wearing a
matching two-pieces suit you can mix it up and wear a black blazer with
burgundy pants, for example or cinch your waist with a colored belt to add fashionable
pop to a basic outfit.
