HOW TO ACCESSORIZE TO EXPRESS YOUR STYLE

"Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory"
Coco Chanel

One of the most important personalities in the world of fashion acknowledged the importance of accessories and being well accessorized (or at least being accessorized in moderation). After all, you definitely don't want to look like a Christmas tree.

Accessories always play an important role in fashion; they are more significant than you may think:  these days, accessories and clothing have equal significance in an outfit; working together to create an ensemble that expresses your style and who you are, representing your individuality. They further emphasize your personal style, taste, and preferences and of course, they also present endless opportunities for outfits, helping you make the best of each and every item you own. Think of a bag, a chunky bracelet or oversized earrings… the list goes on and on; there is no limit… and those endless possibilities are precisely what make accessories so especial. Let’s face it: we can never get enough of the good stuff!

However, just like clothing, certain accessories are appropriate for certain occasions. Essentially, you can bring a staple piece of clothing from one occasion to another by simply focusing on accessories. Fashion accessories are divided into two categories: those we wear or those we carry. The former constitutes jewelries, shawls, shoes, belts, sunglasses, etc. while the latter mainly encompasses bags although umbrellas and luggage can also be included.

Important, I have a couple of rules regarding accessories: If I wear a big statement necklace on, the earrings have to be minimal. I tend to opt for studs in that situation. But if I have dangling earrings on, I usually don't wear a necklace. If one piece of jewelry that I have on is gold, then the rest have to be gold. In another instance, if one piece is silver, then the rest have to be silver as well. Only wear one statement/cocktail ring at a time. If you decide to wear a bracelet and a ring, each has to be in a different hand. When wearing hair accessories it becomes my main piece. Ankle bracelets and toe rings are a definite NO NO’s.
