ARE YOU READY FOR THE COLOR OF THE YEAR?

In fashion one of the most important things to consider is Color. Have you ever wondered why season after season colors go in and out of fashion just like hairstyles or clothing shapes? It’s well known that a color can affect our way of thinking and even our moods, making us feel, for example;  more cheerful or relax. What we don’t know is that there’s a whole creative process behind it; picking a specific color for a determinate piece of cloth requires certain level of expertise, considering the influence of psychological, biological, social and cultural factors. 


According to Pantone, an X-Rite company and major authority in the industry, the color for 2014 will be Radiant Orchid! “While the 2013 color of the year, PANTONE 17-5641 Emerald, served as a symbol of growth, renewal and prosperity, Radiant Orchid reaches across the color wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society.”  (

.) This selection demands an extra careful consideration of many factor and several industries, such as entertainment, art and of course; Fashion.


Here’s a quick guide:
-        White: Reflects light and keeps your cool, usually considered a summer color.
-        Black: Absorbs light and is pretty well known as the most stylish color in the world of fashion, making you look elegant and thinner!
-        Red: mostly associated with passion and sexiness. It’s a very stimulant color that draws attention.
-        Blue: usually produces the opposite emotional response of the color red, producing feelings of tranquility and peace.
-        Green: represents nature and it’s a refreshing and calming color.
-       Yellow: is one of the most difficult colors for the eye to process. However it’s a cheery happy color with positive attributes.
